Irish
dance has been performed since the 18th century. It continues to change
and evolve with time. This exciting expression of culture and art is
often described as ‘ice of the body and fire of the
feet’. In
the early 1990’s Irish dance received international recognition
as shows like the Riverdance and Lord of the Dance traveled throughout
the world, performing for millions of people.
The
Irish community in the Ottawa-Carleton region not only holds an important place
in our history, it continues to make a vibrant contribution to the cultural mosaic
of our city through sport, song, music, theatre and dance. The Taylor School of
Irish Dance is proud to be associated with the community by keeping the tradition
and spirit of dance alive
